Trip Description
Enjoy the beautiful panorama of Hobart City and the fabulous Derwent River from the comfort of a stylish Catalina 42 foot sailing boat under the command of an experienced Skipper and crew .
Leaving Kings Pier Marina in the heart of the Port of Hobart you will be taken back in time as you pass the historic waterfront of Battery Point. Heading south we pass the beaches, stately homes and contemporary architecture of Sandy Bay and Taroona where you can see the historic Shot Tower and the striking Alum Cliffs. Then we will find a quiet bay to anchor and enjoy a sumptuous lunch.
After lunch we usually head home down the eastern shore of the River Derwent taking in this striking part of the City and following the route of the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race back to Kings Pier Marina.
Activities
Dolphins, seals, seabirds and whales (in season) are often sighted. You will enjoy the thrill of sailing and as part of the crew will be welcome to take the helm, man the winches, hoist the sails and do as much or as little as you please. You may wish to sunbath on deck or relax in one of our comfortable cabins. There will be opportunities for swimming, fishing and snorkelling or beach combing (depending on the weather) or just sit back and relax and enjoy the striking scenery unfolding before you.
